Induction Nomination and Ballot Process

The U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame is built upon the recognition of the competitors and contributors to the sport of cycling in the United States.  Since 1987, the USBHOF has conducted an annual induction ceremony of Americans who have achieved tremendous success through their racing accomplishments, or by enhancing the sport of cycling through innovation, coaching, or other participation in the sport.

Inductees in the Hall of Fame include competitors in road and track racing, mountain biking and BMX racing.  Inductees also include contributors to the sport, who have been recognized for their significant contributions toward advancements in equipment, coaching, promotion of cycling events and overall contributions to the sport of cycling.  You will find a summary of their accomplishments under our Inductees page.  You will see how they were nominated in the Election Rules and voted as one of the "best of the best" in cycling.  Anyone can nominate a candidate, however adequate supporting documentation must be provided for the nominee to be properly considered and placed on the ballot.  Forms for Nomination are included, as well as a sample ballot that is used for the voting process. The six categories recognized for inductees are as follows:

1.  Veteran Road & Track - 1970 and  prior.

2.  Modern Road & Track - 1971 to 2003.

3.  Contributor.

4.  Off Road including BMX, Cyclocross and Mountain Biking.
